‘THE MAD BOXER’ SUBARU WRX-POWERED MOTORCYCLE

There are a couple very good reasons people don’t typically build custom motorcycles around car engines. For starters, it’s an incredibly difficult and time-consuming process. Secondly, the weight difference between a car and a bike makes car engine-powered bikes absurdly powerful to the point of danger. Still, they do tend to be incredibly cool, if not somewhat ill-advised machines, like this shed-built Subaru WRX-powered custom bike called ‘The Mad Boxer.’

Built on a dare over the course of 5 years by a New Zealander by the name of Marcel van Hooijdonk, this bike was actually built around a 2.5L turbocharged boxer engine – rather than trying to fit the engine into a pre-existing frame. From there, many of the parts were custom designed and CNC-milled by the builder, himself. The build also included a Kawasaki fuel tank, a Japanese 2-speed automatic transmission, a turbo swap (a small twin replacing the big WRX original), and Buell brakes. Perhaps the coolest thing about this absurd 2-wheeled monster, however, is that it is 100% street legal. [H/T: Bike Rider Magazine]
