Prop maker Gemma Wright has created a replica of the iconic board game Jumanji, based on a film by the same name.
The film is about a magical board game, Jumanji, which unleashes wild animals and other jungle hazards upon each roll of the dice.
The movie’s main protagonist is 12-year-old Alan Parrish, who discovers the board game and immediately plays it. He gets sucked into the game, only to be released 26 years later as a grown, scruffy, overweight version of Tarzan (Robin Williams).
From there, he teams up with his childhood friend and two annoying kids to try and undo the damage the game has done.
Wright’s version looks so much like the real thing, it’s starting to scare me! *drumbeats get louder*
It’s got the ominous instructions and warnings on both sides of the covers.
It comes complete with the four tokens that supposedly move on their own. (We assume that these replica tokens do not have that ability.)
She even included the storage area for the dice and tokens.
And right there, smack dab in the center, is the crystal ball-like thing which flashes the consequence of each player’s move. Fortunately, this one does not display, “In the jungle you must wait, until the dice read five or eight.”
Despite its likeness, the Jumanji replica does not include rampaging elephants, blood-thirsty lions, mustachioed hunters, and 26-year-long sudden disappearances.
Though it’s not exactly playable, it brings back great childhood memories and feels. Those who dare go near this dangerous item can order one from Gemma Wright.
